News / Releases Currently under development LegacyOS Pentium 4 Gamer 2026 for Pentium 4 for 32Bit X86 Laptops and Desktops using the old Intel Pentium 4 Processor from the Windows XP days circular 2000 to 2006. These old computers still exist in cupboards, attics etc and are becoming popular with Retro Gamers, Basically trying to going online with these computers in a modern Web Browser world is pretty pointless. So LegacyOS Pentium 4 Gamer 2026 is an Off Line release. Yes you can still connect by ethernet Cat 5/6 Cable but don’t expect a wonderful usable experience. Also it is a CD install only! Sorry no USB! Besides Linux Games a number of original DOS Games have been included selectable from the Start Menu running through DOSBOX. Also included are a few other Applications that might be useful. Expected Release is in May 2026.Note: This Release will not boot on Duo Cores or Newer, Pentium 4 only. The Boot Process will Start and Crash / Freeze. Why No New Releases for 2 plus years? 2 reasons, LegacyOS Linux is a one man show which I create for fun. I have never received or wanted payment for my releases. It actually costs me money for this website. Because it is something I do for fun, at times like anything else you need a break. Knowing that Legacy OS 2023 was now based on antiX and Debian Linux, it would received regular updates without my involvement, Users would be kept up to date with security patches etc. I actually spent last year building crappy Electric Guitars that while they are playable, not the best quality. Because I am Lefthanded, it isn’t always easy to find Lefthanded Guitars as if I could afford them anyway. This allowed me to create some fun designs. So in a world full of Linux Distro’s what is the future of LegacyOS, that is the question. I have ideas about the direction Legacy OS will go and hope to release something in the future for Newer PC’s.
